11 Apr 6 Ways to Build Your Audience for your Sacred Biz without Being Sleazy
Hi Tarot lovebots, it’s Ethony and today I want to talk about something that I have had many requests for. How do you build an audience for your Tarot business, healing business, crystal business, yoga business, without feeling icky and sleazy?
So I want to share with you some ways that you can build your audience in your field. As with everything that I share, take what resonates with you and incorporate it into your practice, and leave the rest.

Right, now on to the topic at hand.
When you are building your business, audience and brand, people want to get to know who they are buying from. If you are not sharing who you really are with your audience, they are going to feel it. Something is going to be a little off in the way you are communicating with them.
I have said it before and I will say it again: I found that the second I stopped trying to censor myself in regards to my swearing and bursting out into song whenever I felt like it (because that is who I am), the more authentic my content became. I don’t want to be anyone else and nor should you.
Lean into your wackiness and what makes you, you. Most importantly, share this with your community. Share how you have been travelling down the road to living your dream, bad hair days, hot messes and all. You are the reason people will book a reading or healing with you and work with you.
Let people see your beautiful face. This is a wonderful way to be seen and remembered. Plus people are voyeuristic in nature; this is not going to change. There are more and more platforms making live streaming.

- Instagram live and stories
- YouTube Live
All of these free platforms have live streaming services available to help you connect to your peeps. Connecting this back to Get Personal: don’t make everything you do be about your business. It is boring and people are going to click away rather than engage further, so get live and get personal. How often you do live streaming and what you say is another topic, but at least consider adding live streaming into your blogging and marketing schedule.
Take part in a Social Media challenge. Whether that is a YouTube VR (video response) to a video you have watched or a Instagram photo challenge. These are great ways to connect with other people in your field and I have found is a wonderful way to boost your follower numbers.
There are even accounts on Instagram that are challenge specific for your field. For Tarot peeps and Card Slingers there is an account called Divination Challenges that shares all of the challenges that are on IG. Easy!
Interview people in your circle. Who do you find interesting that may want to connect with you and share their story and or their latest product with your people? Make a list right now if you feel drawn to this. Who knows you may be the next Oprah in your field!
This is a win-win for cross promotion as it brings both of your audiences together. You can carry out the interview via a podcast, blog post, video or any format that you find comfortable for you and your interviewee.
Building a relationship, even with communication and interaction with people you want to work with in the future, is a good idea before you go about asking for them to do something for you. You would be surprised how far a little connection before hand goes towards you working with your dream peeps.
Give it to people for free. What is it? Besides a movie I will never watch because I am chicken shit. It is either fantastic content or giveaway prizes.
People subscribe to your mailing list for a reason. They read your blog posts and watch your videos and like your IG feed for a reason. Usually that is because they like and are interested in what you have to say. Or you are giving away something they value. That can be something tangible like crystals or a deck or information they find valuable.
A word on giveaways – If you can do giveaways for your audience then this is a wonderful and very quick way to build your audience. The thing to be aware of in this is that you don’t want to do it too often, as then you are attracting only people who want and expect free stuff from you. There are always going to be these people in your audience, no matter what you do, but you up the percentage when you give too much away.
My final piece of audience building advice is this: Don’t apologize for being in business and getting paid and never try to hoodwink your audience into working with you. That is going to piss people off in a big way and people who are pissed, talk – loudly.
You don’t see ANY business that you purchase from, or work with, apologize for charging you. Your hairdresser doesn’t say sorry when you pay them. Apple doesn’t try and justify shit when you have to buy a new iPhone because your less than 3 year old model is a battery life-draining piece of crap. If you are running a business, then let people know. It is okay. You can do whatever you want.
When you aren’t comfortable with this you may unknowingly try to hoodwink your audience into working with you because you are afraid if you just say, hey, this is me, this is my business and I want to let you know what I have on offer you side step and work it in in other ways.
It is not your job to decide what people will and will not pay for. Your job is to create what you feel aligned and jazzed to create and do the work that sets your life alight and allow the right people to come to you.
There are many ways to build audiences, these are just some of the ways I have found have worked for me and my Clients over the years.
