Tree & Color Lore

One of the most magical things happens in Fall is that many Trees put on an amazing color dance for us. It is so magical here in Canada to see this when the wheel turns this time of year. I was inspired by nature to create a Tarot Spread around the trees and the changing of their crowns.

Before I change cameras and do a sample Tarot Reading with the Colors of Autumn Tarot Spread, I want to have a quick chat about the Trees and the colors I have chosen and the symbology and meaning behind them. This is also mirrored in the spread art, which I painted.

This is a quick guide and I recognise that Tree Lore is deep and there is so much you can learn from each one. I highly recommend the Druid.org library for a wealth of information about their Tree Lore.

Card 1. Green and White Ash Tree – What you are taking with you into Autumn

The color green holds the vibration of love, healing, prosperity of all kinds, growth. Green is connected to the Heart Chakra, our heart, empathy and unconditional love. The Ash Tree is connected to the energy of magic, healing, and enchantment.

The color yellow holds the vibration of communication, learning, travel. Yellow is connected to the Solar Plexus Chakra, where we hold the power of our self-esteem, and all of our personal power. The Oak Tree, which is rich in Kingly energy is the tree of endurance and longevity.

Card 3. Orange and Black Cherry Tree – Where/how your courage will be tested

The color orange holds the vibration of health, balance, happiness, harvest. Orange is connected to the Sacral chakra, the space of desire and sensuality. The Black Cherry tree, belonging to the Cherry tree family is an incredibly sacred tree, called the Witches Tree and people would be warned not to use the tree for any reason. Unless you a witch, then it is okay.

Card 4. Red and Maple Tree – What needs harvesting this season

The color red holds the vibration and energy of passion, energy, change, courage. Red is connected to the Root Chakra which connects us to our security and survival. The Maple tree is extremely sacred tree, it provides sweet sugar and is known as being a gentle tree.

Card 5. Brown and American Elm Tree – What is done, send it back to Gaia

The color brown holds the vibration and energy of stability, possessions and connects us to Gaia. It is also the color of death and decomposition in the natural world, mimicking the color of the soil, which is where it all returns. The Elm Tree hold the energy of connecting to the fae realm and connecting to your intuition.

You can use these energies and correspondences along with your Tarot Reading for Autumn. As the trees change and shed their leaves we too are called to look at our own personal and spiritual transitions.
