Spotlight on Tarot of The Four Pillars With Benebell Wen

You’ve likely heard of Benebell Wen. If you haven’t, she’s an incredibly gifted Tarot Reader who contributes so much to our community. She’s also a lawyer, author, artist, and avid cook.

Frankly, I have no idea how she does it all. I’m convinced she stole the Time Turner from Hermoine Granger and is holding out on us about the location of Platform 9 ¾.

Benebell’s course, Tarot and the Four Pillars for Tarot Summer School is the first of the season, and it’s kicking things off with a bang!

I sat down with Benebell to further explore the course in her own words.

So what is Tarot And The Four Pillars?

Benebell: It’s an advanced esoteric tarot course that will walk you through a 21-card Pyramid Reading designed to be a spiritual experience. The reading and purpose are designed and built upon the Four Directives of the Magus: to know, to dare, to will, and to keep silent.

The Four Directives and the blueprints to your inner temple divined through the Pyramid Reading will pave your Threefold Path of Wisdom: mastery over alchemy, astrology, and theurgy, and to understand their significance to the study of esoteric tarot.

What are the benefits of working with The Four Pillars?

Benebell: Across so many different esoteric traditions, both Western and Eastern, practitioners of the craft and occultists hear about this concept of an inner temple, and we vaguely intuit the concept “as above, so below, as within, so without,” which is a concept that can also be found rather universally.

But can you master a cogent, defined understanding of these concepts? Baseline study and work with the four pillars will help you gain a clearer, more defined and confident sense of what your own spiritual path and life purpose is.

For someone who has never worked with their Inner Temple, what does this entail?

Benebell: In the simplest and most concise wording possible, in your soul resides the divine spark. What is physical has an equivalent non-physical or spiritual counterpart. The inner temple is the non-physical spiritual counterpart to your body and in the same way, you try to get to know your own body, understand its landscape, or choose to modify it, you do the same with your non-physical spiritual counterpart, that inner temple.

This course is a starting point for work with your inner temple by revealing to you its blueprint.

Do you have to be a witch to do this work?

Benebell: No, not at all. There are also no prerequisites of beliefs, ideologies, or faiths, though when I talk about the history or legacy of these concepts, I will make reference to specific religious ideas. You can be an atheist, and so long as you are open to deep-diving into your own inner psyche, this is going to be a powerful reading technique to try out.

All that said, the first half of the course is heavy-handed in scholarly lecture on Western esotericism, so if that doesn’t interest you at all, this is probably not the course for you.

What attracted you to this work?

The possibility and the potential it holds for guiding me toward transcendental understanding of the world I live in.

Why should Tarot Readers explore this work?

I don’t actually believe all tarot readers should explore this work. It’s not meant for everyone. That’s why it’s called esotericism.

How do you personally use these teachings?

My life and achievements are proof it works.

“How awesome is the 4 Pillars of Tarot reading spread? Just finished the first pillar and blown away with the incredible insights to the cards I’ve drawn (using Tarot Illuminati deck). I’m seeing so much in the cards that I’ve never seen or felt before. Just unreal Benebell Wen.” -Mark Bannister

“Just printed out the workbook for Tarot and the Four Pillars. 😮 As usual Benebell over delivers!”  -Sinead Louise

“So impressed already with Benebell’s content” -Rhiannon Cruz
