You can’t help but look at Outi Harma’s work and want to touch it. With her two Oracle Decks, Love Your True Colors and Venus Rising you can hold her incredible art and use it to unlock your intuition. I initially found Outi’s decks on Easy and then started following her inspirational accounts on social media.
I have an unboxing video of both of her decks which I have been using for my personal work and with my Clients and they all adore it. Always wanting to admire all of the cards after a reading. I kid you not.
Out shares her journey of creating her art and her Oracle decks with us today.
Can you share a little about yourself. Where you are from, what you are passionate about and what is your profession?
I am originally from Finland. I grew up in a tiny town north of the Arctic Circle. I came to the US over 25 years ago just as an adventure but loved it here right away. I started exploring art making. I am a self-taught artist/painter. I have been making a living as an artist for a 20 years now.
I am passionate about creativity, self-expression, spirituality, self reflection, nature, humanity, the world, politics, …I think I could go on and on 🙂 I have practiced ecstatic dance weekly for over 20 years now. I could not imaging my life without dancing. I love acting and theatre and having been involved in it for about 15 years. I belong to Rachel Rosenthal’s theatre company called Tohubohu! ExtremeTheatre. We perform once a month.
How did this journey of creating the deck unfold?
My friends, and strangers, kept telling me that my art would be great on a deck of tarot or oracle cards. I thought so too but it took me a while to follow through and start creating a deck.
What were the unexpected challenges creating this deck?
Creating a deck went very smoothly for me. Years of painting gave me so many images to choose from. Sometimes the words would come first and I would look for the images that it would fit. And other times I would sit with the images and see what they wanted to say. I love the process.
Only thing I had a challenge with later in the process was the printing company that I had chosen. They made lot’s of mistakes. I had to constantly send things back to get them reprinted. Finally I changed printers.
What is your favourite Tarot Card? (of your deck or in general)
I have used the OSHO Zen Tarot deck a lot. But maybe just because that is what I happen to have next to my bed. From my “Love Your True Colors” deck my favorite card is “don’t take it personally”. It is so freeing to let people to have they own experience and not to take things personally.
From the “Venus Rising” deck I love the “be fierce” card. Fierceness is such a good antidote to the feeling of powerlessness.
How do you use the Tarot and Oracle decks in your spiritual practice?
I like to pick up a card before dancing or meditating. I Feel into what it means to me and take a one word or short sentence. For example lately I have been working with word “receiving”. I love to practice of embodying it fully by dancing with it and breathing the energy of it into every cell of my body.
