World Kindness Day Tarot Spread and Kindness Ideas

It’s World Kindness Day, and I wanted to share some ways you can spread kindness to those around you. There is also a kindness tarot spread for you to add to your tarot spread library.

Be kind, especially to yourself. If you struggle with allowing people to help you and shut down offers of assistance, your challenge today is to accept the act of kindness. Let others extend what you so effortlessly offer to others.

Simple acts of kindness can make a big difference, and they’re a great way to spread positivity in honor of World Kindness Day.

Free Acts of Kindness

  • Write a heartfelt thank-you note to someone who made a difference in your life.
  • Offer to babysit or pet sit for a friend or family member who could use a break.
  • Donate gently used items like clothes or books to a local shelter or community center.
  • Give up your seat on public transport for someone who looks like they need it.
  • Help a neighbor with their groceries or carry their bags.
  • Offer to cook or share a meal with someone who lives alone.
  • Pick up litter in your neighborhood or local park.
  • Teach someone a skill you know well, like cooking, budgeting, or using tech tools.
  • Offer to help someone with a task they’re struggling with, like yard work or fixing something.
  • Share uplifting stories or quotes on social media to inspire others.
  • Be patient and extra polite with everyone you encounter throughout the day.
  • Say thank you to people and look them in the eye when you say it.
  • Give the people you love a hug.
  • Make a cup of tea or coffee for a workmate, housemate, family member, or friend.
  • Go to your local seniors center and play board games, chess or make crafts with some of their members.
  • Donate books you’ve read to your local schools, library, child care center, community centers, or free libraries around your neighborhood.

Low-cost Acts of Kindness

  • Buy a coffee or tea for the person behind you in line at a cafe. This is one of my favorite ways to show kindness in the morning.
  • Bake or buy cookies and bring them to a local fire station, hospital, or school to show appreciation. For health and safety reasons, bought and sealed cookies are best for sharing outside of your friends and family.
  • Donate small care packages with items like socks, hand warmers, or snacks to a homeless shelter.
  • Send a handwritten card or note to someone you appreciate, telling them why they’re special.
  • Pay for someone’s parking meter or bus fare if you see they’re running low.
  • Bring fresh fruit or healthy snacks to your workplace or school to share with colleagues or classmates.
  • Donate needed items to a local food bank or community pantry. For the LOVE of the Goddess, please don’t give them crappy canned goods. They get way too many of these items. Urgent needs for many food banks include baby formula, sanitary items, diapers, peanut butter, jams, sugar, tea, coffee, and long-life milk. Your local food bank will tell you what they need if you check their website. https://www.foodbanking.org/
  • Donate a small amount to a cause or charity close to a friend’s heart in their name. One of my favorite charities is Only One. They clean the ocean of plastic, rehabilitate seagrass ecosystems, and rebuild coral reefs. – https://only.one/
  • Purchase a Pooh Bear and support the World Central Kitchen. Not only will you get an adorable Pooh Bear plush for yourself or someone else, but you’ll also help hurricane relief programs around the world. https://rueandvervain.com/collections/hugs-for-hurricane-relief

These simple gestures can bring joy to others without much cost, so if you’re in a position to be able to help in any of these ways, it’s always appreciated.

I’ve created a seven-card kindness tarot spread for you to use today and every day. By centering your tarot practice in the intention of kindness, you can spread it to the people around you and yourself. Kindness is free, and it’s best when it’s shared with everyone.
