Card of the Day – Strength – 3rd April 2009
I am currently pondering what kind of strength that I am being asked to have today? Is it the 
strength not to obliterate 20 Easter eggs? Is the strength not to go down that dark thorned path? Is it the strength to just dig in and get it done? Or is it the strength to see the good in every situation and remain positive? It is probably all of these things.
This is a card I get often but one that I think I tend to brush over. The meaning is straight forward and deep at the same time and I can tend to over look the subtleties of strength.
Another point that comes to mind is that people cannot be strong all the time and that often we put up a front of being strong when it is simply not the
case. It is an incredible type of strength to admit we need help. For a lot of people releasing their pride a little bit is too hard. Funny that Lions are in a pride.
What can be annoying about this card is that it looks so farking easy for the woman in the card, like she is playing with a house cat. Is it just me or is life just not that dam easy all the time? Granted there are times when things just flow and are easy but a lot of the time it isn’t like that. Then we can take that further and say that even when things are outwardly hard, we should be striving to obtain an inner strength and peace. Easier typed than achieved.
The Strength card sits between the Chariot and The Hermit in most 
traditional RWS type decks. This is an interesting thing when you look at the progression of the Fools journey. In the previous card, he is seen driving his Chariot by will and focus towards his goal. I see The Chariot as an outward energy card it is expansive. He then confronts Strength, which again for me is an expansive energy. Then the Fool withdraws into the Hermit and inward journey in the card that follows in the Major Arcana.
So am I the Cowardly Lion, the Sheepish Lion or the Goddess Sekhmet….

What interesting thoughts on the card. I have been getting strength for the last few months in EVERY READING (gee, I wonder why…), so a new take on it is most beneficial. Thanks babe!
Oh, and we consist of all three at varying times. Being Sekhmet for too long can make the world just a little bit too bloody 😉

Hi Fluxus, thank you for the comment, the tarot card is actually not a part of a deck it is a piece of art from Deviant Art, I wish it was a deck the image is amazing and the rest of the deck would be lovely.
