What a full on Witchy Week!
My first Halloween in the Northern Hemisphere was pretty cool. I was at class that night so missed most of it but I have been enjoying watching the Fall colors of the trees and peoples houses being decorated. Starbucks cashes in on the holidays with a complete seasonal menu and it is getting friggin cold. There was so much frost this morning that the leaves looked like Yule ornaments on the ground. Stunning.
I also moved apartment which made for a huge weekend but I did manage to celebrate Samhain on Wednesday night with a group of Women in town and it was lovely. Hosted by The School of Gypsy Arts the Samhain celebration was just what I needed. It is the first Sabbat celebration I have witnessed since moving from Australia and it felt like the perfect one to start my Canadian Wheel of the Year with.
The group ranged from experienced practitioners to first timers and all round lovely energy. Along with a Samhain Altar which we were all invited to ad to, there was a small talk about Samhain then we got crafty. We made Anointing oils with crystals and Yes/No casting stones for Divination. The casting stones were easy and quick to make and even easier to read with. All you need are some tumbled stones that you are comfortable with and a sharpie. Sharon made some pieces of paper with large circles for us to cast on. We only read the stones that fell inside the circle.
As Samhain is one of the best nights of the year for Divination practices this was a really great activity to go together that allowed everyone to read. I personally love the Tarot (of course if that isn’t totally obvious) but any type of divination also really rocks my boat.
We also had two lovely meditations, one an ancestral mediation and another one with Cerridwen and her magical cauldron. After some grounding cakes and tea we read each tea leaves.
It was so nice to connect to a community here especially given how much I miss my community in Australia.
I am so looking forward to Yule which is actually my favorite Sabbat cause who doesn’t love presses?
