Tarot and Spring: Refreshing Your Practice for the Season of Renewal

Spring is a time of growth, new beginnings, and fresh energy. As the world around us awakens with vibrant blooms and life, it’s the perfect season to refresh your tarot practice and infuse it with the vitality and optimism that spring offers. Whether you’re reconnecting with your working decks, exploring new ones, or embracing spring-themed rituals, this is the season to let your divination practice blossom. Remember, as with everything I share regarding tarot practices, take what resonates with you and simply leave the rest.

So, let’s dive into some of my favorite springtime tarot practices. I will also show you all of the tarot and oracle decks I will be working with this spring.

Refreshing Your Tarot Decks in Spring

The act of refreshing your working tarot decks in spring aligns with the energy of cleansing and renewal. Over time, our decks can absorb the energy of past readings, emotional exchanges, and the spaces in which they’ve been used. Spring offers a natural opportunity to cleanse and revitalize your cards, ensuring they can assist you in the season’s transformative energy.

You can energetically cleanse your tarot decks as a spring practice. Just like spring cleaning this can clear away lingering energies to bring clarity and accuracy to your readings.

Spend time with your decks, especially the ones you want to work with during the season or if they’ve been set aside during the winter months. Put your decks back in factory order, starting with The Fool and ending with any of the Kings from any suit. Then, spend time looking through them, remembering the symbols and why you love the deck.

Clean your tarot storage items and reading space. Dust everything, wash everything that needs washing. Cleanse any crystals you have in your reading space. It will all feel lovely and revitalized.

The Best Tarot and Oracle Decks for Spring

If you’re looking for new decks with a spring vibe, here are some things to consider when your perusing the shelves of your own collection or your local bookstore.

Any tarot and oracle deck that has a theme of nature and growth is perfect. Whether it’s focused on flowers that rise in spring like snow drops, daisies and daffodils and greenery. Or animals that are associated with spring. These are great decks to use this season.

If you have a deck that has a strong theme or vibrations of new beginnings and re-birth. This is a spring deck for sure. Any deck that feels like potential, freshness and opportunity is aligned with this season. So too are decks that inspire your creativity, nature is getting busy and creating new life and waking up, so working with a deck that will encourage you to make new art or infuse new energy into a shelved project is perfect.

Tarot and oracle decks that have spring color palettes that are soft or one of my favorites, pastel colors are perfect for this time of year.

When picking your decks for the season, you can use any that you feel is a draw to use for the season.

My Tarot and Oracle Decks for Spring

Here are the decks that I’ve chosen to work with this spring.

Spring Tarot Deck Cleansing Ritual

You can do this simple ritual at the beginning of spring to re-energize your decks. If you desire, modify and add steps or ritual ingredients that have meaning to you. To align with the season, doing this ritual during the day and outside is best. You can do this ritual with a group of tarot and oracle decks; you’ll just need more space.

I may be one of the minority here, but I don’t like fresh flower bouquets. I’d rather see flowers and plants living in the soil. So, when a ritual or spell requires flowers or petals, I only source what I need and thank the plant spirit for its offering.

You’ll need:

  • A white or pastel-colored cloth
  • Fresh flowers or petals (flowers that are local to your region)
  • A piece of clear quartz or selenite crystal
  • A piece of citrine
  • A bowl of spring water

Steps:

  1. Lay out your deck on the cloth.
  2. Scatter the fresh flowers or petals around your cards, symbolizing the beauty and vitality of spring. If you have a few pieces of clear quartz or selenite, add them to the circle around your deck/s.
  3. Take the citrine and scan it over the deck slowly while setting the intention to cleanse and refresh the energy of your cards. Say this as you do so: “As the earth awakens, so too does my deck. May it be filled with fresh insight, clarity, and renewal.”
  4. Lightly sprinkle a few drops of spring water over the deck as a blessing for new beginnings.
  5. Let the deck, petals, and crystals sit in sunlight (even indirect sunlight by a window) for an hour to absorb the season’s energy.
  6. When ready, place the petals from the circle and the rest of the spring water in your garden.
