Starting Your Tarot Business – Part 4 – Your Online Space

In this part of the Starting Your Tarot Business series, we discuss your online space, social media and content delivery.

This is a series of videos that were requested. I was asked about how you get a Tarot Business started and here are my thoughts. Nothing I say here is gospel. Take what you resonate with and leave the rest.

This advice can be used for Oracle Card Readers, Angel Card Readers, Healers and Energy workers as well. I use the Tarot as my main Spiritual Tool and run a Tarot Business so this is the perspective on which I speak.

In the last video I went over defining your offers and pricing.

In this video I am going to cover:

  • Your Online space
  • Social Media
  • Blogging, Vlogging and Podcasts

Setting up your online space

You have chosen your platform and are ready to get setup which is awesome. Here I want to talk about avoiding some pitfalls and setting yourself up for success with your online space.

You Need a Website 2.0

I covered this in video 2 so this is not a new concept but getting a website together can be an overwhelming thing. It doesn’t have to be. Keep it simple.

The most important things about your web spaces is that

  • It is very you
  • It is welcoming
  • It has clear offers and calls to action
  • It gives something back

It’s You

Your site is like a portfolio of who you are and what you do. Therefore it needs to be you. Which is another way of saying you are a brand. People want to connect with the people they are buying from or working with. It could be a connection of like minded thoughts or people really digging your vibe. No matter how you connect, people want to connect.

You also need to accept that we are visual creatures which means you really are more likely to engage and convert visitors to your site with a photo of you. It also needs recent and decent. You don’t need glam photos but you should be able to find someone who can do some professional photos for you within your budget.

If you have a friend who is good with a camera. Offer them a reading in exchange or a dinner and get it done. If you are uncomfortable with having your photo up get an avatar made. I personally don’t think there is any reason not to have a photo of yourself on your site even if you are working in a corporate job still and doing this as a side hustle while you build your business. I was on national TV casting a spell so the national level football team could finally win a game in their season (it totally worked BTW and the station people and the football player were so nice and respectful) and I didn’t get anyone harassing me about it at work. If you are worried about your job security because of the beliefs of your employer or you have serious safety issues that is legitimate so have a graphic designer create an avatar for you and don’t use your name online.

It’s Welcoming

This is another way of saying it is not abusing your potential Clients and site visitors eyeballs with flashing neon lettering and cheesy clip art.

Would you spend time on a site like that?

You want your space to be like a reflection of the feeling you want to help your Clients with. Use that as a jump off point for your online aesthetic.

It has clear offers and calls to action

This is a big subject but you can start to look at how CLEAR your messages are on your site. Do you have a place where you are collecting people’s email addresses?

Are there readings or healings that people can FIND easily?

Are your readings, healings and offers clear and easy to understand?

If you have these things down you are on the right track.

It gives something back

Giving does two things for you. The first is that is build credibility because it proves you know what you are on about and most likely what you want people to pay you for and secondly it builds a relationship. I know that most people love to be given something. We all do, it’s human nature. Even better when we can give REALLY good things, even if they are just really informative blog posts.

What are you giving your potential Clients, site visitors, fans, followers, tribe, community?

What would you like to be giving them?

What do you like to share?

Rules of Engagement Online

The rules of Social Media and Content publishing are similar.

  • You have to be good at it – For example if you only post blurry photos, Instagram is going to be limited for you. It is a learned skill so you can learn how to take better photos if you want to use that platform.
  • You have to enjoy it – If you hate writing, don’t blog, people will know. If you aren’t very comfortable speaking maybe Periscope isn’t for you.
  • You have to be consistent – Commit to yourself and your business to posting regularly.

Social Media

I say this to all of my Spiritual Entrepreneur Clients.

Pick THREE max, Social Media platforms at the beginning and forget the rest.

Pick them up and add them to your tool kit once you have a couple down pat. Other wise you can spend all of your time on social media and not doing anything else.

  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Tumblr
  • Periscope
  • YouTube
  • Pinterest

Blogging, Vlogging and Podcasts

You can use any platform to connect to your potential peeps.

The wonderful thing about Blogging, Vlogging and Podcasts is that it allows you to reach a lot of people and you can even do it from your PJ’s if you want.

I recommend that you pick ONE that is your strength at the beginning and get really good at it and build a track record.

I blog and vlog because I have seen the proof that it is where people find me. Social media can push people to your site too but it is isolated. Google isn’t going to send people to your Instagram account or tumblr page unless your peeps are googling you + tumblr for example. But if people find your site through a blog post you can connect them to all of your social media sites and collect their email addresses.

It is also a wonderful way to build community through groups and blog hops, interviews, blog swaps and sharing awesome things your tribe is going to love.

There is no one size fits all when it comes to this sort of stuff. I hope that this has offered you a place to start and some things to think about when it comes to starting your online presence.
