The Hudes Tarot deck was created by Susan Hudes and is very influenced by medieval art and mythological symbology. The cards design and artwork are a dreamy water colour and Susan has also incorporated maps, marbled paper, constellation charts to ad accents to the artwork. It works very well with her chosen illustration of the characters on the cards. There are 78 cards in the deck.

All of the cards are fully illustrated, in saying that the cards are not overly illustrated as a rule. Susan has opted for basic design which is of Rider-Waite Smith origins and kept it simple. While you would be able to read with these cards using your intuition working with the book would also be of huge benefit so that you are getting as much information about the depth of cards meaning and message.

The deck comes with a little white book but I also purchased the separate book ‘Wisdom in the Cards’ written by A.L. Samul. It is actually quiet a thick little book with just under 300 pages of information. There is an Introduction, Information about Card Layouts, Celtic Cross Spread, Meaning of the Cards (with both the Upright and Reversed meanings) and Suggested reading list. The meanings of each card given are quiet deep rich with symbology and story and there are also keywords to help the reader remember the meaning of the cards and also a card affirmation and prayer. The affirmation and prayers would certainly be useful for people who work with the cards as a meditation tool.

Susan has created quiet a soft deck and it would be perfect for people who love anything medieval.
