The Wheel turns
The nights are long
The days are short
We feel Winder’s grasp in the air and we long for the Sun’s return.
Our Ancestors from around the World would have found the
Season of Winter the longest and hardest to bear.
This is the time where spiritually we seek refuge, reflection and stillness
and await to put our plans into action come Spring.
The Goddess at this time is waiting to give birth to the Sun God
Signaling that the longest night has passed.
The Young God and his heavenly representation the Sun
Herald new beginnings and the return of the Light
In this sacred space
We now take time to reflect on the year that has been
and what we wish to bring forth into the growing light
(taken from S.C.O.T.I.F. Yule ritual 2010)
We all gathered around the fire, with the Yule altar set and gathered to honor the longest night of the year. Pausing to contemplate the past year and looking forward to the light returning.
After ritual we feasted and drunk warm mulled wine and shared gifts with each other. Much talking through the night proceeded.
